These images were made in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, in the summer of 2003.

The photographs were taken with a  Sony Digital8™ DCR-TRV330 camcorder and a Sony Cyber-shot 2.1 mega pixel digital camera.

Taking advantage of the camcorder's innate sensitivity to near-infrared light, the camcorder images were shot using a Filterfabrik-Wiesbaden Gelatin Filter No. 92 (deep red). This filter allowed only infrared light, and a negligible amount of visible red light, to create the exposures.
