Western Screech Owls & electric substation

Owls of the species Megascops kennicottii, known as Western Screech Owls, congregate around an electric substation in modern day Southwestern North America.

The Western Screech Owl is a small owl with a length of 8.5 inches and wing span 0f 20 inches. Their diet consists mainly of small mammals, birds and large insects. They are active at night or near sundown, using their excellent hearing and night vision to locate prey.

An electric substation (or electrical substation) is a subsidiary unit of an electricity generation, transmission and distribution system where voltage is transformed from high to low, or vice versa, using transformers.

*The Holocene Epoch encompasses only the past 10,000 years, leaving the present Age yet to be officially defined by the International Commission on Stratigraphy.
