Archaeopteris contre-jour

A Late Devonian sun sets behind a forest of tall tree-like plants of the genus Archaeopteris 385 million years ago in what is today Europe. Lounging in the shallow foreground water is an extinct lungfish of the genus Dipterus. Forests of Archaeopteris likely witnessed 24 billion sunsets.
